Viscosity and density of aqueous solutions of urea and guanidine hydrochloride.

چکیده
Densities and viscosities of aqueous solutions of urea and guanidine hydrochloride at 250 have been measured, and equations are presented which describe their variation with concentration. Densities and viscosities of similar solutions containing additional solutes (buffers, NaCI, -mercaptoethanol) have been measured, and the possibility of predicting these results from information on solutions containing each solute separately is discussed.

Solvent-dependent changes in proteoglycan subunit conformation in aqueous guanidine hydrochloride solutions.
Prior studies of the viscosity of the subunit proteoglycan obtained by dissociative extraction of bovine nasal septum cartilage suggested that the proteoglycan subunit molecule behaves as a rigid rod in aqueous solution over the range of 0.5 to 4.0 M guanidine hydrochloride. A more direct view of dimension and shape can be obtained from light-scattering and viscosity of bovine nasal cartilage p...
متن کاملMeasuring the Density and Viscosity of Carbonated Aqueous 35 wt% Methyldiethanolamine Solution
The density and viscosity of carbonated aqueous 35wt% methyldiethanolamine solution were experimentally measured accompanied with the solubility of CO2 at temperatures from (303.15 to 363.15) K and pressures up to 0.8 MPa using the new setup developed in our laboratory. It was observed that both density and viscosity of mixtures decrease by increasing temperature and incr...
متن کاملLiquid-liquid equilibrium data prediction using large margin nearest neighbor
Guanidine hydrochloride has been widely used in the initial recovery steps of active protein from the inclusion bodies in aqueous two-phase system (ATPS). The knowledge of the guanidine hydrochloride effects on the liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) phase diagram behavior is still inadequate and no comprehensive theory exists for the prediction of the experimental trends. Therefore the effect the ...
متن کاملInteractions between hydrophobic and ionic solutes in aqueous guanidinium chloride and urea solutions: lessons for protein denaturation mechanism.
In order to clarify the mechanism of denaturant-induced unfolding of proteins we have calculated the interactions between hydrophobic and ionic species in aqueous guanidinium chloride and urea solutions using molecular dynamics simulations. Hydrophobic association is not significantly changed in urea or guanidinium chloride solutions. The strength of interaction between ion pairs is greatly dim...
متن کاملMeasurement of Thermophysical Properties of Pure and Mixture of Alkanolamines from 288.15-323.15 K
Density, viscosity and refractive index of pure, binary and ternary mixtures of diethanolamine (DEA) and methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) with water have been measured at different temperatures from 288.15 K to 323.15 K at atmospheric pressure. Also, this study presents the effects of mixture composition and temperature upon these thermo- physical properties. To measure the density and refractive i...
